Children’s World offers child care to children ages two weeks to 12 years. School Crew is for children from age 6 until their 13th birthday. Educational services, including Nursery School, are available to children beginning at age three. See our classrooms.

We’re open Monday – Friday, 5:30am to 6:00pm, with flexible, year-round monthly schedules.

Complete the Pre-Enrollment Registration online (or on paper) for each child. There is a $75 non-refundable enrollment/activities fee per child. Children are placed in their age-appropriate room based on availability, and our staff will contact you prior to enrollment to review and complete enrollment forms.

Yes. On the online registration, choose “Not yet” for your child and enter the due date. This takes the place of the Infant Pre-Registration Form.

If needed, your child will be placed on a wait list. The wait list is processed based on the date Pre-Enrollment Registration Forms and fees are received.

Tuition depends on your child’s age and schedule. Please call the Front Office at 712.324.4837 for current rates. Rates are reviewed each year, usually with the first billing cycle of the year. There are no sibling discounts.

Please bring the fee to the Front Office. Cash, check and card are all accepted. It is non-refundable and applies to new enrollments and re-enrollments after being withdrawn from the Center. The enrollment fee is also charged each year.

Yes. These are the other fees families should know about:

• Annual enrollment: $75 per child, each year.
• Sunscreen: $10.
• Pick-up after 6:00pm: $25 plus $1 per minute the first time, and $25 plus $5 per minute the second time.
• Unscheduled care: a $5 fee plus $15 per hour.
• Schedules turned in after the 20th of the month: $25 per day, plus any approved change-of-care charges.
• Diapers from Children’s World: $1 each. Wipes: $1 per day.

Fees are subject to an annual increase. The Front Office is happy to answer questions.

Yes. Children’s World accepts child care assistance from the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Please make sure HHS has your child care provider listed as Sheldon Community Daycare and Nursery School. If your provider is listed as Children’s World, it will NOT be accepted.

Nursery School is for children who are 3 years old by September 15. There are two classes, one on Mondays and Wednesdays and one on Tuesdays and Thursdays, each from 8:30am to 11:15am, September through May. The non-refundable registration fee is $35 for children enrolled at Children’s World ($75 for children who aren’t), and Nursery School is $25.00 per week plus a $5.00/week snack fee, even if your child doesn’t attend. HHS and Wrap Child Care Assistance do not cover Nursery School fees. More about Nursery School.

Sunshine Fun Time is a summer program for children ages 3 and 4 who have not yet attended preschool and are toilet trained. Classes meet Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00am to 11:00am. Registration is $15 for children enrolled at Children’s World ($30 for children who aren’t), and the program is $25.00 per week plus a $5.00 snack fee. More about Sunshine Fun Time.

We’re closed on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Friday after Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, and we close at 1:00pm on Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and Wednesday, November 25, 2026. Each child gets 7 absent days per year. The Front Office can answer any questions about how they work.

Fill out a hold request form at the Front Office. While your child’s spot is on hold, your weekly tuition drops to $75. For a longer absence, ask the Front Office about an extended hold.

We require two weeks’ notice before ending care.

We make nutritious snacks, breakfasts, and lunches available that contribute to the growth and development of a healthy child. Children’s World takes part in the CACFP food program, so parents can no longer send food for children in the Mobiles room (6 to 12 months old). The forms are under Food Program.

Yes! Birthday treats are welcome, as long as they are store-bought and packaged.

Yes. Parents are welcome to drop in at any time to check on their child.

Children’s World uses FunShine Express Curriculum, which is aligned with early learning standards and guidelines. Each classroom does age-appropriate activities for that month’s themes, and lesson plans are posted in the classroom each week.

Use Submit Documents to send a photo or scan from your phone or computer, or bring paper copies to the front desk.

Absolutely, and tours are free. Tours are usually Monday through Friday between 9:00am and 3:00pm. If you need another time, just ask and we’ll do our best (we can’t give tours between 5:30 and 8:00am). Request a free tour or call 712.324.4837. We would be happy to get to know you and your family.
